Wonderful tour! So what’s next? (Hint: includes more giveaways!)

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Kathy at I Am A Reader, Not A Writer for all her care and hard work in setting up and running the Bronze Blog Tour for me. I HIGHLY recommend her services if you are considering a book tour or blast. I have met some truly lovely people and am so excited that so many more people now know about Bronze and, especially, The Glister Journals series.

Also a huge thank you to all the people who have followed me on Twitter, Facebook, Goodreads, or one of my blogs, and to those who have tweeted and retweeted, shared posts on Facebook and Google, and added Bronze to their shelves on Goodreads and other book sites. Please know that I do appreciate you on an individual basis and, when possible, check out your blogs and pages. You’re awesome!

Congratulations to the winner of the $100 Bronze Book Blast giveaway! And continued good luck to those entered in the remaining giveaways: the Bronze Blog Tour Giveaway (scroll down for the giveaway) and the Spooktacular Giveaway Hop. Both giveaways are open until October 31, 2013.

So what’s next?

A lot of things!

First of all, as a thank you and acknowledgment to all of you I am going to have monthly giveaways so more of you have an opportunity to win cash or giftcards (for books or music, of course!) and copies of Bronze. These will be Rafflecopter giveaways posted here on my blog and announced on my other pages. My blog is posted on Goodreads on my author page so it’s also a good place to check for updates. The first will begin on November 1st and end November 30th. The next will begin December 1st, etc.

Second, a MUCH bigger giveaway is in the works for the Bronze Soundtrack Contest. You can find details at The Glister Journals website. Prizes will be added as participation grows, so I hope you’ll consider reading the book, (only $2.99 on Kindle and print prices dropping as low as possible!) There will be at least five winners with prizes including book store (of your choice) gift cards plus swag, and including a grand prize winner of at least $50 (this prize starts at $50 and will increase–a percentage of book sales will be added!), personalized copies of both Bronze and the second Glister Journals book, and more!

There are clues listed on the website and clues and prizes will be updated regularly. Is it easy? Not too easy, but probably not too hard for anyone who has actually read the book and is willing to do a little searching! I’ll also notify everyone of updates by Twitter and Facebook. The songs will be revealed in a countdown starting thirty-one days before the second Glister Journals book is released. (And yes, there will be a new soundtrack for that book!) The contest will be open for submissions (your list of song titles) for a couple of months before the countdown. I hope you’ll enter–it’ll be fun and it’s really a GREAT soundtrack!

Also in a spirit of appreciation, the Kindle edition of Bronze will be FREE on November 1st and 2nd!

What’s next for me, personally? I will be concentrating on writing. I want to be able to release the second Glister Journals book in the first half of 2014, but it will mean concentrating on writing and nothing much else. So anything my readers and supporters can do to help get the word out is SO appreciated!

I will continue to update my blog when I can (music and book reviews, road trips, etc.), but to guarantee I have at least a weekly post, I’d like to start a regular feature: Retro Thursday. Every week I’ll do a media overview of a specific month and year that readers submit. What is your favorite memory? Wedding day? Special birthday? Vacation? An event with friends? Tell me the month and year it happened and I’ll do a blog post on what was going on–movies, TV, books, and of course especially MUSIC! Just leave a comment suggesting a date here on my blog, on The Glister Journals Facebook page, or in a tweet to me on Twitter. I’ll choose one a week to explore–just be aware it will be from my point of view!

Thank you again to everybody and I hope you’ll continue on this journey with me! Speaking of Journey…. (LOL. Sorry, couldn’t resist!)

Two Lovely Bronze Reviews . . .

. . . and a very flattering picture.

Ruth over at Reading…Dreaming, a book review blog in Uruguay (how cool is that?) did me the honor of requesting a book to review a few months ago. Unfortunately the first book went missing and I’ve imagined all kinds of interesting stories of where it might have gone and in whose hands it ended up! But she finally received the second book, liked it (yay!), and posted this lovely review.

One of the things I love most about being a writer is the connections I make to those people who like my work, write the reviews, and let me know who they are. I now have friends in Canada, Australia, and Uruguay, as well as several dotted around the United States. The thought of doing a real, physical book tour makes me shudder, except that I would love to get to meet these people. (I do plan on doing a virtual book tour when the e-book of Bronze is released and again when the second book is released, but this will not require airplanes, scratchy hotel sheets, or crowds!)

Then she posted this picture of the bookmark of another author’s novel:

Kiss Me @KimberlyKinrade on Twitpic

It took me a moment to recognize my own book right behind the bookmark (you can just see the “n” and “z” of Bronze). Totally made my day! Though I’m not sure what that author thinks of it–it looks like she’s kissing MY book! I will have to somehow return the favor!

Thursday (two days ago) I received e-mail notification that ForeWord Reviews had reviewed the copy of Bronze I had sent. This is huge for me. There are not many widely (editorially) accepted book review entities that review indie books. I have received a couple of other media reviews, but nothing on the scale of ForeWord. So I was, as the song says, noivous.

Yeah . . . Bo Diddly.

Now, I’ve lived long enough to know myself pretty well. I had a rehearsal that night so I didn’t want to have anything else on my mind. I also knew that one way or the other the results of the review might (and probably would) keep me awake, so I didn’t look at the review until I got home after work on Friday (yesterday). I figured if it was negative and snarky at least I didn’t have to get up early in the morning and act like a normal person.

Apart from a couple of comments about certain information the main character, Allison, didn’t give soon enough (which, if you understand the concept of the book, was for a reason) and subjective opinion about formatting (if we had formatted over more pages the book would have been HUGE and cost more too!), the reviewer seemed to really like it and basically “got” it, as much as anybody can at this point anyway (bearing in mind, again, the concept of assumptions and how much information is still to be revealed!) The full review can be read here: ForeWord Review–The Glister Journals: Bronze

More music? Of course!!! I don’t think I’ve mentioned it before, but I wake up with music playing in my head. Every. Single. Day. The really weird thing is that I don’t wake up and the song then starts; I wake up and the song is in the middle somewhere. That’s seems odd, but maybe everybody does that. It’s usually something different every day, but this past week this song has been there several mornings. I love the trumpet part most, but after watching the video (just now) I love it even more and realize how appropriate it is for this post. This is what these lovely, confirming things make me feel like. (The dancing, the dancing! Not blowing things up! LOL)

Another Thank You . . .

…to everyone who entered my International Goodreads giveaway. My goodness, there were people from all over, which was very exciting to see. In the end the books went to Argentina and Portugal. Again, I wish I could hand out more books for free, but they cost me too much! I am very open to providing books for giveaways on established book blogs, however, so don’t hesitate to contact me about it.

If you haven’t already, I hope you will read the first chapters here or over at The Glister Journals website to see if you like the writing and might be interested in the book. I still plan on adding a chapter (or three) there, but not the whole book.

And I’m sorry I’m so behind on my blog posts. I have two I need to finish with more art and music. I think about it all the time, but work (the paycheck job) has kept me busy and I’ve actually been WRITING! Yay! I sure look forward to giving out some kind of date, but I’m still quite a way away from that.

I hate to leave you without at least some music though. Here’s a band I’ve just recently been introduced to that I’m liking a lot. A lot (thanks, David!) I really like their own music, a nice blend of melodic alt/rock with metal edges…just up my alley. Great vocals too. But this is a cover of a song that might be more familiar to you. Though I don’t care for Mumford & Sons myself, I love this particular track and the way they perform it. I’ll be looking forward to see where these guys go and I’ll be buying the album too. So check them out and give them some love!

A Quick Word of Thanks and Future Giveaways

A huge Thank You to Goodreads members who have added my book to their “to-read” lists. Thank you also to everyone who entered the Bronze giveaway there and congratulations to the winners! Your books will be on the way soon. The response was wonderful. I wish I could just give away copies to everybody. I hope you will visit the website where you can read the first chapters to see if you like my style, the characters, etc. The chapters can also be read here on my blog. Please be aware that it is a realistic novel, not paranormal, is character driven, and is long.

I have posted a new giveaway on Goodreads specifically for those outside the United States, United kingdom, Canada, and Australia. A full list of the countries involved can be found on the giveaway page. If you are interested in participating in the giveaway and your country is NOT listed, please let me know on my Goodreads page and I will add it!

There will be more giveaways through the book’s website which will be announced there, theglisterjournals.com, through The Glister Journals Facebook page and here through my blog. I will also list any giveaways through other bloggers at these sites, so keep in touch!

I am very intersted in doing giveaways, interviews, etc. through individual book blogs, so if you have an established blog and are interested, please contact me!

Again, thank you so much for the interest and support. It means a lot!

Thursday’s Child

Here it comes, ready or not! Another new year and I have to say, I’m ready for it! Not that 2011 was awful or anything, but I didn’t accomplish what I’d hoped to, and the new year always holds promise for a fresh start . . . or at least another chance!

And what do I hope to accomplish? Well I admit, I’d hoped to get my first novel, Bronze, on the radar at least, but due to a lack of marketing/promotional knowledge and skills, was not able to see that happen. So we’re releasing a new updated edition, hardbound, (very nice, by the way) which we’ll try to bring to media and trade attention. The book size itself is slightly larger, but there are fewer pages so it actually resembles a normal size book! (In case you didn’t know, the paperback is quite a large book, being 720 pages, but is an easy read.)

Reviews for Bronze can be read here.

I especially like the way the book jacket came out. Because it wraps around the cover, I had to redesign the artwork, and decided to “reveal” the horse’s face. (Yes, it is one of the characters in the book.) I may eventually have some posters made and will certainly get it on the website (maybe as a wallpaper or something).

The website desperately needs attention – I wish I had the resources to hire someone to do it for me, but I don’t. It is HIGH on the priority list though. I also still have artwork and illustrations connected to Bronze that I hope to share soon.

There is also information to be released about Bronze which I hope will prove interesting and fun for fans of the series, but I’m not letting that go until there are more people to play along . . . You can help by spreading the word!

Finally, I hope to at least have a publication date to share with you for the second Glister Journals book later in the year. There has been too much distraction for me to work much on it, but it is my ultimate goal for 2012.

So as we head into the new year, I’d like to leave you with two of my favorite things: dancing horses and singing children. This first video is of Frederic Pignon and Magali Delgado (personal heroes and founding members of Cavalia)

And the amazing PS22 Chorus led by Gregg Breinberg singing Two Door Cinema Club’s (one of my favorite new bands) songs, and seeming extremely appropriate for entering the new year, “What You Know.”

Oh and Thursday’s child? That’s me 🙂

Summer Giveaway

I know summer is when a lot of people get some serious reading time in (like me), so let me help you fill in that time! For the months of June, July, and August I will be giving away 2 copies of Bronze for each month.

The Glister Journals: Bronze
Book cover

Just sign in, follow me, and leave a comment here, and/or “like” my book page on Face Book The Glister Journals: Bronze, leave a comment, and you’ll be entered in the drawing for them. If you don’t win, your name will be carried over into the next month’s drawing. The first winners will be drawn and announced on Thursday, June 30.

The Glister Journals website will be getting a facelift soon, and provision made to get update notifications and be able to comment directly there. In the meantime, I hope you’ll read the book and, if you like it, that you will leave a comment telling others. Better yet, if you have an Amazon and/or B&N account, please leave a review! The first four chapters are available to read on the site. Word of mouth and internet reviews are Bronze‘s main exposure and marketing. Thanks for your help!

There will be future giveaways and contests too. The contests will require that you’ve read the book, however, so until enough people have, the contests are on hold.
